Lynn, I thought David was brilliant in those court room scenes. You could feel his pain of having to recount what Josh did to him, and I didn't feel it was overdone at all, but I also wondered where Josh's lawyer was. Didnt like Josh at all. Too much looking around and down and had a very 'woe is me' look about him.

Perception is everything; I understand why people feel that way about the scene.

For me: I felt like I was watching an actor trying too hard to emote and it left me wondering who was directing that scene.

HJ,

Pauline and Kael (NY times movie critic for eons) and I both had/have reservations about Meryl Streep so there is that lol to consider.

I agree Hey Jude. I didn't think it was overdone either. We were well aware how painful it was for David to relive that night in front of a courtroom full of people, with Josh looking on. He didn't want to be there especially when he wanted to be at Shona's side. If I was on that jury, I would look at Josh with that look of defeat, hanging his head and I'd have a hard time believing that he wasn't guilty of everything David has said!

Lynn, am I to think you don't like MS? I think she's a fantastic actress. She never fails to impress me smile

I cant even think of a time that Meryl Streep over acted or was bad at acting roll eyes (sarcastic)

Lynn, re. David - I thought so too. It wasn't his best acting imo. Def. trying too hard.

So much for me waiting until Sunday to watch!

I re-watched David's scenes in court today and they didn't bother me as much the 2nd time fo some reason. I think his scenes by Shona's side at the hospital are the best though. Very believable. I'm liking that we're seeing traces of the old Nick too.
